Mother's Day & Charleston

Mother's Day was awesome. Not just because I got some really cute Pandora beads (thanks Mom, Dad, & Kyle!), but because I got to sleep in!

Liz & Jonath have come to visit us (and are going home today - boo!). We hit the beach on Mother's Day. Here are some pictures of our little adventure:

Conner has been to the beach before, but never gotten in the water, or played in the sand. He *loved* it! He kept trying to eat shells & sand, so after 2 hours I was exhausted. It started to thunder, so we packed up anyway & headed home.

Yesterday we headed to Boone Plantation & Charleston. We planned to eat at Justine's Kitchen (it's been on the Food Network a few times), but they are closed on Mondays.

The house at Boone Plantation isn't the original - the previous 3 had burned, & this house was built in the 1930s. It's a private residence, but the owners are dedicated to historic preservation.

Conner tried his first strawberry & loved it!

We headed into Charleston for dinner, only to find that Justine's Kitchen was closed. I texted my friend Kristen who had gone to the College of Charleston for a recommendation. She suggested Vickery's Bar & Grill. From the website, it looks like it's a small chain, but the food was good. (I had a fried green tomato BLT.)

Here are some photos from around Charleston:
