Conner in KY

Conner is in the midst of his first trip to KY. The first week and a half he spent in Winchester at his Mamaw & Papaw's house. Shirley had flown down to help Kyle drive up, while I stayed behind to finish up my last 2 tests for nursing school (I made out with a B for the semester!)

I flew up to KY on Wednesday after my final. The flight was relatively uneventful, with some minor turbulence, and a loooong lay over in Charlotte. The next morning, Conner just looked at me like "Well, it's Mom, big deal." Not exactly the warm welcome I expected.

Thursday (the 11th), Liz and I hung out. It was good to see her! She and I ate lunch at a restaurant close to UK's campus called "Bourbon & Toulouse" (I'm sure I've got that wrong). I tried the crawfish & the chicken etoufee, and I preferred the crawfish, but both were excellent. We did a little more shopping, then headed to Shirley's house in Winchester so she could visit with Conner a bit before we went to dinner.

Kyle & I had dinner that night with Liz & Jonath and Brian & Lindsey at Bar Louie. YUM! It's a higher end bar, but don't think that it's stuffy and super expensive. Jsut a step up from the college bar, and not some hoity-toity place either. We all enjoyed it. The atmosphere is laid back, but not super casual. It has a modern feel, yet is cosy & pub-like with its wood covered walls. We split an order of the chicken nachos as a appetizer. They were so good! I have no other words. Kyle and I split an order of the fish tacos. It came with 3 tacos with a mild fish in a flour tortilla. The whole tortilla was filled with fish! An excellent deal. It also came with guacamole, mango salsa (both are excellent on the taco, and I'm starting to get hungry just thinking about them!), and black beans & rice.

Kyle & I both drank, so Jonath was our DD (thanks Jonath!). We spent the night at the Sleep Inn in Hamburg. I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the room. For a hotel that accepts pets, it was also surprisingly clean. They offered a breakfast in the morning, but we passed on it so that we could hit up Dairy Queen for their biscuits & gravy.

Well, it's getting late, more to come later!
